internet explorer problems....

For some reason whenever I go to start up my Internet
Explorer it takes a long time for it to start and it
causes everything else to lock up while it's doing its
thing. I'm using Windows XP and I have Internet Explorer
version 6.0. I just want to know if it's a problem with
the explorer or my computer system.

Try a repair of internet explorer.
go to control panels add/remove software list and click
on explorer to remove...there will a window come up with
the option to repair explorer.

I tried that but the only thing that comes up is a patch
for Internet Explorer and when I click to remove it, it
just uninstalls it. There's no window that pops up with a
repair option. Is there another way to do a repair of
Internet Explorer?
