Hi There,

A client of mine has reported problems on there browser. They claim that
whenever they enter Hotmail.com into their web browser as the URL, they are
redirected to UKonline's website.

They are quite proficient with computers so I doubt they are doing anything
stupidly wrong. I thought this particular re-direction was unlikely to be
the result of any spyware - but you never know.

I wonder if anyone knows of any virus' or other reason why their PC might be
behaving in this way.

Kind regards and TIA

Dave.

IE is having problem resolving host names, IE may have cached
some wrong entries of IP addresses in a HOSTS file, you may try to delete
the HOSTS file located in the Windows folder. It is a hidden file so you
will need to set Windows Explorer to show all files in order to find it.

Thanks for that. When I visited the client it turned out that somehow in the
favourites www.hotmail.com had been saved as the name of the URL for
www.ukonline.net.
Therefore, whenever one typed in the URL into the browser (IE 5.5. it turned
out to be) it was resolving the items in the favourites.

Thanks for your advice here anyway, not sure how the laptop got like this
but once I removed the favourite things went back to normal.

Regards

Dave.
