internet explorer - possible bug

recently my internet explorer stopped allowing me to add sites to my favorites and will not allow any downloads, such as updates or anything else. Also the icon on my desktop changed from the standard e to a white page with a program type widdow on it. The icon may or may not be related to my problems..??

There also is occasionally a window that opens up advertising for a Casino that I can't seem to get rid of even though I found the folder...it will not let me delete it and it's located in my history folder.

Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated...esspecially help with the download problem.

Yes, scan your computer for viruses, if you can have a friend download
AdAware, Spybot, CWShredder, and HijackThis. Run all those problems,
because it sounds like you have a virus or trojan horse. The advertising
for the Casino gave it away.
