Internet Explorer opens slow when I type an address in the "Address" Toolbar

I'm using WinXp Pro....Athlon Xp pro...plenty of
ram...you get the drift.

I keep my IE cache/history very clean and tuned. When I
click on my desktop IE icon or when I launch the program
via the Quicklaunch icon, it loads very quickly. I have
an "Address" toolbar located at the top of my desktop.
When I type a url and IE loads, there is about a 2/3
second delay before anything happens. The IE window pops
up but the icons aren't displayed program and it almost
seems as if the program is in a 'hanged' state but then
it proceeds to load the page normally after a few
seconds. Could anyone assist me with this problem?

Thanks.

I checked all these sites....used AdAware and Spybot as
well as other spyware detection tools. There were no
problems found. I also read the following article
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=320162

but it did not apply. Is there anything else?

Thanks

Did you seek updated files for AdAware and Spybot before using either?

Not all such tools can identify the latest bad-guys and variants, including
CoolWebSearch (see previous reply) and IEPLUGIN
(http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/Darnit.htm#ieplugin). See the section on
HijackThis at http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm and post your files
to the recommended forum.
