internet explorer only shows first letter of page descriptions

this is really getting on my nerves...
the top bar of my ie is only showing the first letter of page descriptions, such as.... "new page-1" will be "n", I keep on searching for options to fix it but cant find out how. how would I go about fixing this? thanks for the advice.

Disable, one at a time, programs running in the background such as
ad-blockers, browsing "helpers", pop-up blockers, etc. One of them may be
causing this.
