internet explorer long load time

Hi all! I've done the usual searching on google groups
and the web for a couple of days now and I'm stumped.

I have a client whose computer takes about 30 seconds to
load internet explorer 6. this long loading time only
happens if it's not already open. if IE is already
running, i can start a instance of the program
immmediately. and once it's loaded, it performs
flawlessly. none of the windows updates seem to help and
i've also tried stopping norton antivirus, but it seems
that has no affect either. also, i've tried emptying the
cache and different cache settings but no avail.

hi,

i'm having the same problem recently after i installed the new IE 6 update patch a few days ago & i think it's the new patch that's causing this. hate microsft & it's "customer support". i won't update anymore like my friends who never updated once & never got any problems. it's sooo complicated to ask for help to microsoft.
