Internet Explorer Glitch?

Please help! I have been staying at a hotel with my Toshiba laptop. This
laptop is over a year old and I have had no previous problems. I have been
logging in everyday online using Internet Explorer 6 with all updates
current. No problems. Then all of a sudden I come back after lunch, turn on
the computer and get "page cannot be displayed" pages constantly. The
connection is showing "connected" very strong. it sends and it receives but,
will not even open a page of any kind, or even a messenger service. When I
unplug the lan cable and go to wireless the browser works fine. I had a hotel
IT guy look at it and the IP and etc. is set correctly. Even when it is set
on "let it find its own automatically". I am hurting badly and need help
quickly. I am moving to an apartment tomorrow morning that only has the LAN
type cable and absolutely no wireless. I will only be here for 2 more months
and the company that has hard wired the building will not do wireless. I am
an American in Kuwait with a need for your help!...

If IE works on a wireless connection but not with the LAN conncetion, then
it's not an IE problem. Either your connection setup for the LAN is
incorrect or the LAN isn't accepting machine as a valid connection. I had
a problem similar to this with a cable connection -- apparently working
physical connection but no service -- and it turned out that the repair
was to power down the cable modem long enough to make it reset. The first
tech I talked to wanted us to reinstall Windows.
