The pound sign on some web sites is displayig as
a 'J'(only on some web sites). This is a new problem so I
suspect a recent download (or uninstall?) has caused the
problem.

Anyone got any advice?

Almost all www.eBay.co.uk header pages display a 'J'
instead of the '£' (pound sign). View souce shows I'm
using Western European (ISO) & the Auto-Select doesn't
resolve matters.
The same web ppage on other PCs showsa the correct
character so I reckon I've got a dodgy setting or
something has become corrupt.

Any advice is appreciated.

Regards,
Mick M.

When to the site and my Encoding is set to Western ISO and No Autoselect.
Your pound sign problem must be when you sign it and try to sell some items.
I cannot try that to see if I get the correct listing.

Read Item 10 on this page for some clues.
Pictures Are Not Displayed on Web Sites in Internet Explorer
A Web page may display an image as a red X, or a placeholder may appear in
place of the image.
Covers also this problem: Web page that is encoded for the Western European
(ISO) code page might not display any images:

Try this.
1) Corrupt Font(s)?

2) Check your Java Support
Found out what version you have and you should be able to get what you need.

3) Microsoft's Scripting download
Get the latest. Two download versions are available for Windows Script 5.6.
The first version requires Windows 2000, XP; the second version requires
Microsoft Windows 98, Millenium Edition (Me), or NT 4.0.
Choose the download appropriate for your operating system.
