My Internet Explorer is using c:\windows as the favorites folder! How do I change it back?

Change the Favorites path in the registry.

Windows XP stores the location of per-user special folders (including favorites path) here:
[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders]

The correct path is %USERPROFILE%\Favorites. Or, use TweakUI and change the location of the favorites folder.
