Hello,
I've recently ran into a problem when trying to start
my internet explorer browser. It is IE 6. Every time I
double click to begin the application I receive the grey
error dialog box. It says that IE must shut down. It
give the option to send the error to Microsoft or not.
I've tried to defrag and clear un-needed files and have
rebooted multiple times. I have not changed my system at
all in regards to adding or deleting programs lately...Any
suggestions?? It is greatly appreciated

I am having the same issue; my Outlook also cannot
send/receive mail. Please CC me on any solutions

Thank you

I have ran into the exact same problem. I tried to
reinstall IE6 but my computer says I already have a new
version installed. I have IE 6.0.2800, everything else
works fine. I am currently using Netscape in order to get
on the internet.

I have exactly the same problem, which just appeared out of the blue yesterday. Reinstalls don't seem to help.

Same here. Problem also started yesterday for no apparent
reason. System Restores do not help. Have not tried
Reinstall yet.

I also am having this problem. It started last night.
The strange thing is that my husband is setup as another
User on this same computer and can access IE just fine,
but I get the same error as you.

I'm curious, do we all have Windows XP Home Edition? I do.

I posted a thread with a solution a little ways down...it's more detailed. Best that I can tell this is a parasite caused by Spyware. I also have XP Home for what it's worth. I suggest doing the following

1) Right click on the IE icon...select properties. (Or you can select internet options from the control panel).
2) Click on the advanced tab. UNCHECK the option under Display for 3rd party browser access (reboot required). (The text is written something like that.
3) Reboot Syste
4) IE should now work. Download the latest version and service packs. Download spyware removal tools
5) Run spyware removal tools and get rid of or isolate the offending application. I prefer Spybot Seek and Destroy personally. It's free and quite potent.

have noticed which we have in common is that it started
mysteriously last night...The previous day it was not a
problem

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com

and:

SpyBot-S&D
http://security.kolla.de/

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.

More: This may be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite).
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.

I have the same problem but it happens once or twice a day after I've been only for hours. Let's hope
someone knows the solution.
