I have a cable modem connection to the Internet yet in Internet Explorer I keep getting a dialog telling me that a particular link I have clicked is not available offline and that I should choose to connect. Sometimes when I click on connect it automatically sends me to the link and other times it does not.

There is nothing wrong with my cable modem connection. How do I stop this annoying interruption? Sometimes it doesn't even allow me to get where I am going or it attempts to connect via AOL and telephone modem. This used to happen all of the time until I upgraded IE and it stopped but now it has started up again. It doesn't happen in Netscape but Netscape has too many other problems associated with it or I would definitely switch

I don't understand why this happens.

In IE, try clicking Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> Never dial
a connection.

If you're looking for a modern, fast and secure browser, try Mozilla
Firefox. IE is a POS.

Thanks, John. That was the setting when I went to IE tools/connections. It
doesn't seem to obey that setting!

Hmm. I had those annoying popups when I first switched to ADSL. IIRC they
stopped when I deleted my old dial up connection from Network Connections.
Have you tried that?
