Internet Explorer cannot open the internet site

At random times while surfing the net I keep getting an
error message that says Interent Explorer cannot open the
Internet Site, it then gives the site it cannot open and
then it says operation aborted. I am only given the
option to click ok. I can see the entire page behind the
error message and when I click ok the web page then go to
the cannot find server page. This has been happening for
about the last two weeks.

I have tried deleting my cookies, history file deleting
my temp files and it still continues.

I am at my wits end with this.

I am having the same problems, however 70% of my sites
will not load. It is very frustrating!!! How the heck can
it be fixed?

I am now getting "page cannot be displayed" on two
government web sites. My desktops with the same program
and settings get them fine. I cleared the cache, cookies
and looked for updates. Nada, zip, zero. fdic.gov and
hud.gov will not open on my laptop but are fine on my
desktop.

Sounds similar to your problem.

It may be a HOSTS file problem.
Look also for a file named HOSTS (no extension, could be hidden) rename it
OLDHOSTS.
