Internet Explorer cannot download - Connection with server rest

I use the Windows XP Pro SP2 and all the latest updates. For some reason I
can't download anything from IE. If I use Firefox downloading is fine. When
I use IE and click download and choose an area to save the file to it says
"Internet Explorer cannot download <filename> The connection with the server
was reset."

What can I do?

Use Firefox. Perhaps that's why it is overtaking IE as the default WWW
browser.
 
My netgear router needed Trend Micro Security Services disabled - do you have
the same problem?
