Internet Explorer and java

Hello out there.
I am having some serious problems with JAVA. I have
downloaded it and it is located in a folder, but when I
run any windows that require Java script I get an error
message "Your browser does not support Java" I have
contacted Compaq and my ISP, and I am at my wits end. Can
someone help me?

It must be installed. It should have been some sort of exe or setup file
that you downloaded. Simply downloading the file and placing it in a folder
won't work if that is what you did and that's the impression your post
gives.
