Internet Explorer 6.0 problems

I have a friend that has XP on his system, he has IE 6.0 on his
desktop running through a cable modem - connected to a Wireless Router
with the wireless connected to his laptop. The desktop is connected
through the one of the 4 ports (wired) and he said that when he surfs
the internet on his laptop (wireless) he has no problems, but if he
tries to surf on his wired desktop, he will get a response that page
not found. He can get the page on his laptop, but appears that it
page isn't found when trying to connect or locate from his desktop.

Now, I am shooting from the hip on this, but I asked him to send me a
message to my email stating what he has on his system, and what
problems he is experiencing, so I will try and post them once I
recieve his informationand see if you out there can suggest what me
might be missing or need to try.

Ask him to attempt to connect to a web page using it's IP address
e.g. http://207.46.130.108
If he can connect ok then the problem is a DNS one... meaning he hasn't told
the wired desktop which nameservers to use (or to auto get the info from his
ISP when he connects)
