Internet Explorer 3, 4, 5 needed

I'm loading some old software on Win NT 4. When I try to install the Service
Pack 6a, Iget a message that I need a more recent Internet Explorer. (The
computer has IE 2). When I try to install IE 6, I get a message that I
need to have Service Pack 6a installed first.

So I am now looking for Internet Explorer 3, 4, and 5. But all of the
searches lead me to the Microsoft pages which seem to be pushing IE 6 and
nothing else.

Can someone help me to find some source to download IE3, 4, and 5?

Thanks very much!!!!

Thanks Ricky. This must be my day to encounter gremlins; I have tried to
register and gain access to Planet Mirror, but it doesn't seem to recognize
the password that it sent to me. Strange. I'll keep trying, but meanwhile,
if there is any other source, I would love to know about it.

Why can't Microsoft have a "legacy" area for its own software? They're the
ones responsible for this circular dilemma I'm in.

Thanks Eric, but this site seems to require me to become either a student or
a professor at the University of Victoria. I don't understand by your
comment, "Reply in newsgroup only."

Thanks for helping!

It doesn't require me to register to access the files. All I did was go
there and click on them.

Sorry about that. Here's a link that will allow you to download without becoming
matriculated or tenured:

Regarding the reply comment, some people try to reply both personally and via
the newsgroup. I, like many others here, do not except personal correspondence
and my posted e-mail address is invalid. The main reasoning behind this policy
is that if the question is asked here it should be answered here for the benefit
of all concerned. The secondary reason is that if one posts using one's correct
e-mail address, one can expect to be spammed forever.

Simplest solution is to get an IE6 CD. It has NT4sp6a on it too.

A similar problem happened with IE4 and NT4sp3. Same solution
was possible then. Actually if you can solve that issue somehow you
could if you wanted download the NT4sp6a and then later upgrade IE
to IE6sp1.

I think the problem is that there is no ActiveX in IE2; that came with
NT4sp3. Some drivers won't work without at least NT4sp3 too
so if you already have that but still only have IE2 perhaps you could
change IE2's User-Agent to fake it as being IE4. Then at least you
would get further at the download site.

I have read of clever workarounds of this problem but unless you feel
like having a challenge getting the right CD is your best approach.
For one thing it makes doing parallel installs much easier.

Good luck

First, you can only install one version of IE in any bootable partition.

IE Download (all versions):

IE6 SP1 is on this free CD:

Thanks everybody. Got it at oldversion.com.

I really appreciate the help. The circular logic of the WinNT4 Service
Pack/IE version requirements had me going a little crazy.
