Internet Connection

The other day i could not get a dial tone when trying to
connect to the internet. i decided to uninstall and
reinstall my modem. When i reinstalled the modem it seemed
to install ok but i still cannot get a connection. I
noticed that it was installed as com3. When i go through
the troubleshooting for the modem one of the checks is to
go into Ports (COM & LPT)and check the com that your
device is on. But com3 is not highlighted so i could not
check it out. I then purchased a new modem thinking that
it was the modem itself but i am getting the same fault
and this modem is on com4. I even tried a different PCI
slot but i am still getting the same fault. If anybody has
any other suggestions for me i would be very greatful.

If the modem is an internal model, then it will not show up in the COMS &
LPT section of Device Manager. This section only lists out the standard
motherboard/PCI/ISA based ports (serial & parallel).

Does the modem show up in the modem manager (??) in Control Panel?

Y.
