Everytime I log into Windows Mail (Vista-OS) my internet connection shuts off
and then I have to connect again. What could be causing this problem and how
to I fix it. Please tell me step-by-step.

Are you on a Dial-Up connection?

Couple places...try this first. Go to:
Tools > options > Connection > make sure "ask before switching..." is the
only box checked. If anything in "Internet Connection Settings" is checked,
then check, "never dial a connection", if you are connected via cable or
ADSL, or check the "dial whenever a network..." if you are connected via
dial up". then check apply and back out.

In Internet Explorer, click on Tools, then Internet Options, then
Connections.
If there is no dot in the circle before Never dial a connection, click on
this
circle, then Apply. Click on OK.

In Windows Mail, click on Tools, then Options, then Connection. If there
is no check mark in the box before Ask before switching dial-up connections,
click on this box, then Apply. If there is a check mark in the box before
Hang up after sending and receiving, click on this box, then Apply. Click
on OK.

Tools | Accounts
Select the account.
Click Properties.
On the Connection tab uncheck "Always connect to this account using ...".
You may have to do this for all accounts.
