Internet connection to websites unavailable

I have Windows XP on a Dell Home Computer. I'm using a
dial-up connection via phone line and internal modem. It
takes me 3 tries to log on to AOL, and when I am there all
I can get is e-mail. I cannot connect to any websites.
Internet Explorere is not working either. I have re-
installed XP. Same problem. Solutions?

If XP was just re-installed without wiping the hard disk I'd be very suspicious that you have some sort of spyware or more malicious files on the hard drive. Visiting some websites, music download sites in particular, seem to have files that are loaded without your knowlege that cause problems like this. Using Spybot, Spywareblaster and Ad-Aware usually avoids this type of problem

I gave up AOL long ago..

Good luck - Jim O
