Internet Connection Sharing

I am running Windows XP Professional and having trouble
enabling my Internet Connection Firewall. When I try to
do this I get the following error message:
An error ocurred while Internet Connection Sharing was
being enabled. The dependency service or group failed to
start.
Can anyone help me with this issue? I also have a Netgear
RP614 router connected in case that might play into this
equation.

I had the samilar problem a few months ago. I found a
post from some one else and I gave it a whirl and it
worked for me. Though I run the XP Home edition the error
message was the same. This is what I did:
For ICF to work the following must be enabled:
1. Application Layer Gateway
2. Network Connection
3. Network Local Awareness
4. Remote Access Connection Manager

Enable those services using Services.msc applet.
Click [Start] [Run] [Services.msc]
Make the 4 items above "Automatic"

Good Luck

If you have a router installed, it probably has a built in firewall.
Check the documentation that came with it. If that is the case, you
should NOT turn on ICS.
