internet connection sharing of a dialup

I am trying to set up a network in the home. I have successfully created the
link between the two pcs using a wireless system (pc cards and router). My
problem is establishing the internet connection for a dialup. We have a free
service from the local university (no software to install, just manual
setup). I have each of the pcs able to connect directly via the phone line,
but I would like to be able to use both pcs online at the same time. I
understand this will greatly reduce the speed of the connection. I have ran
the wizards windows provides with no success.

Any help is greatly apreciated.

You could use ICS to share the Internet connection or get a router
with a port for connecting a modem.

When you ran the wizard, what options did you select?

For the first computer (with the dialup modem), did you select:
This computer connects directly to the Internet. The other computers on my
network connect to the Internet through this computer.

For the second computer (the one connecting thru the first?), did you select:
This computer connects to the Internet through another computer on my network or
through a residential gateway.

Do both computers connect, as peers, to the router? Is the router issuing DHCP
settings? That will be a problem; with ICS, the DHCP server in ICS issues DHCP.

See if disabling the DHCP server on the router allows ICS to issue settings to
the ICS client. If it doesn't work, you will have to forget about ICS.

If you're using free service from the university, with no software to be
installed, it sounds like the service is PPP compatible. You will be immensely
better off if you would get a dialup compatible router, and use both computers
as clients to the router.

Thanks Chuck. I have run the ICS wizard and set each pc up like it is
supposed to be with no luck. I'll check the router.
