Internet Connection Issue

I can connect to the internet using IE and a Cox cable or
a dial-up conneciton. If I use Opera, Money, or Quicken,
it says there is no internet connection. I checked the
settings for LAN settings and discovered
that "Automatically detect settings..." was turned off
and "Use a proxy.." was turned on (which is not like my
other machines). Figuring htis was the issues, I
reversed them and rebooted, and they both got set back to
Auto=off and Proxy=on. Any ideas why this is happening?

Sounds like your PC has been "hijacked" by some sort of spyware, which takes
over the control of your Internet connected. Run a "good" spyware removal
tool (like Ad-Aware 6) and a good anti-virus software. This is to
"disinfect" your system before trying to trace your "Auto=off" and
"Proxy=on" problem.
