Russ

I have run 2 applications (Spybot & SpySweep) to clean
adware from my system. Now the machine does not appear
to comm with my router. IP address appears as
169.254...and I'm told that it should be 192.168....
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Russ,

The 169.254.0.0/16 address is assigned by APIPA.

Winsock damaged is the most common networking problem caused by spyware removal.
Download and run LSP-Fix and / or WinsockLSPFix
<http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm>.

Please let us know if this fixes your problem.

Cheers,
Chuck
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.
