Hi, I work at the ihug helpdesk and have had this problem
occur over the last two days, three times. Customers have
reinstalled windows 2000 and as a result the internet
connection wizard wont complete, it is getting stuck on
the Enter a name for your isp providor field, no matter
what you type in there it is coming up as inncorrect or
invalid name supplied please check for a period or other
type character and try again. No matter what you type in
here it wont process the information, Have asked customers
to install a windows 2000 service pack, the best has been
service pack 3 with no succesful result. A reply would be
greatly appreciated.

Are your customers telling you why they are reinstalling Win 2000? What
problems led them to reinstall? Perhaps they have have a virus, the blaster
worm comes to mind. Also, you do realise that using a real email address
when posting to newsgroups allows you to be vulnerable to receiving
mountains of bogus Swen emails, not to mention spam.

I have the exact same problem and have just posted here a minute or so ago. I would like to point out that I have the latest anti-virus software technology on my computer and I still am having the exact same problem. Reinstalling widows 2000 is surprisingly common. I had to many times recently because I was trying to deal with a hardware problem that turned out to be a outdated ide hard drive controller (I was trying to use a 120 gig Maxtor dma 133 hard drive with an older dma 66 controller card) and it kept corrupting files until I switched the hard drive to the motherboard's ide chain that supports dma 133.
