Internet Browsing Times

Good afternoon!

I have a client which has a problem with slow browsing speed. Let me give
some background on the environment:

* The office this individual works in has no more than 12 uesrs in it.
* The PC is a Pentium IV 2.4 GHz processor with 512 MB of RAM and 30 GB hard
drive with plenty of drive space available.
* I have scanned his PC for viruses using Norton Corporate Edition 9.0 with
expanded threats and the machine came up clean.
* I have scanned his PC with Spybot, Ad-Aware, and Spysweeper and all came
out empty. So there is no spy/malware on the box.
* His Internet Explorer cache was set to 10 MB. I emptied all temporary
Internet files and cookies.

Ultimately I did some timing tests on the web browser. It was taking his PC
30 to 45 seconds to begin to bring up a web page. It would require an
additional 15 seconds for the web page to finish loading. I have checked
other PCs in the office and no other PC seemed to be suffering such problems.

What else can I check to see what might causing such slow web page loading
times?

Thanks!

I forgot to mention in my previous post that this individual is running
Windows XP Pro SP 2.

Thanks!

Use Device Manager to review the properties for the network adapter. Use the
Advanced tab to review Media Type. When mine was not set to auto my XP Pro
SP2 performance was seriously eroded.
