Internet and games for guest account

P

Peter

Dear Colleagues,

The system is XP (home) with SP1.

a. How does one set up an internet connection for the
guest account please? The Wizard requires the
administrator (which I am) but my own account already has
a connection. I cannot see how to extend it to the guest
account or set up something on behalf of the guest
account.

b. How do I access a game from the guest account please?
I have an old flight simulator which operates in my own
account. I can find the exe file with explorer in the
guest account but it will not run because a DLL is
missing -which is not the case in my own account.
My grandchildren will be here shortly and I would be
grateful for some prompt help please!

With many thanks

Peter

select the option 'anyone who uses this computer' & place shortcut on
desktop

If it soesn't appear there you should be able to go into network connections
from guest account and drag a shortcut

I have come across a number of games that require an administrator account
for the game to function, sounds like you've got one! try setting up a
limited user account for them to see if you have the same problem. If that
fails you will need to set up an administrator account for them to play
games, although they will still be able to access the internet from a
guest/limited account.

If you're worried about them deliberately/accidentally changing system
settings make sure to create a system restore point before they begin and
install spybot S&D enabling the tea-timer. This means you have two methods
of reversing system setting changes
