International phone number mask

George, this question gets asked from time to time, and the general
concensus is that there is no input mask that matches phone numbers from
different countries. Further, countries change their phone number systems
from time to time, so it might be a nightmare to keep up to date if you did
go to the trouble of developing and applying custom masks specific to each
country.

For previous discussions, go to groups.google.com, and search
microsoft.public.access.* or comp.databases.ms-access for threads with
"phone" and "input mask". If you get too many, filter to those authored by
Brendan Reynolds. (He's from Ireland.)

Since

(999) 999-9999
9999
(99) 99-9999

and dozens of other formats are all valid international telephone
numbers, and since Input Masks have zero flexibility... No.

You're a wag, TC. I think you've been around long enough to know that
Brendan is very good value. :)

My current solution is to have a setup form, with the format available as a
string. Allow each authorised user to change to suit themselves, and store
in the registry on that machine. Then hold the phone numbers as text only,
no formatting, in the tables.

I actually didn't read the "to" in: "filter to those". I read it as:
"filter those...". This presented an opportunity too good to pass up!

Each country makes its own rules for its phone numbers. So each
country's phone numbers are drawn from different domains.

That's a hint. ;)
