"International", accented characters have disappeared

I'm faced with a strange problem that I've never heard of, and I'm not able
to resolve it by myself..

All of a sudden, my pc doesn't react when I try to add accents to vowels
like the e or i. Nothing has changed in the language settings, nor in the
keyboard setup. I really don't get it. This problem is present in all
applications.

I alternate between keyboard layouts (Spanish/Danish), and the problem
affects both.

If anyone has any suggestion or experience with this problem, please let me
know- I need the accented vowels!

Ask in your language group - why ask foreign questions in an english group.

Have you tried the language bar

There is an option US Internatiuonal which has accented characters.

Since you want Danish and Spanish, I don't know if this is any good

control Panel -- Regional adn Language Options -- Languages --
Details... -- Key Settings -- Advance Key Settings

Look there to see if you accidentally hit one of the key combinations
and thus got the normal US keyboard back or the like.

To avoid this problem, I have made changes, so I cannot see the default
of this window now, but chances are that you have the answer there.
