Hi
out firewall does not allow us to access our own hosted sites

is there a way to point say
www.xyz.com to internal IP address

so that when the users type www.xyx.com, the site appears on the internal ip
address

I am using win2000 as domain server

Thanks

Sounds like you have a Split Horizon namespace (the internal AD domain name
is the same as the external domain name) and you're hosting your external
website on your internal machine thru a NAT port-remap.

Easy...Under your internal "xyz.com" zone, create a record called "www" and
give it the internal private IP address.

In your internal DNS you need the record for the www host to point to
the IP address your internal users can see. Try the IP address as the
URL (http://{IP_Address}/) as a test, and that's what your internal
record should show.

I am abit new to the DNS on win2000
I know the internal Ip addresses for the websites
I can access them from the DNS server using internal IP

What I want to know is which interface or where
do I go and assign this www record to point to the internal IP

I think you answered your own question. Since you mentioned "which
interface", then I'm assuming this machine is mutli homed (which ALWAYS
causes confusion and some problems). You'll want to use the internal IP
(internal interface), not the external IP, sine that is the IP the internal
users connect to.
