Intermittent problem receiving faxes

A customer of mine is having an intermittent problem
receiving faxes using the XP fax console. The computer is
a new Dell Dimension 4600 with a BCM V.92 data/fax modem.
As far as I can tell the modem is on the HCL and has the
latest drivers. All service packs etc have been applied.

The computer will recieve faxes from some fax machines but
not all. The problem seems to be specific to certain
locations / machines trying to send the fax. I've gone
through all the troubleshooting steps I know of and would
appreciate some insight.

Remove the nospam if you reply by email.
 
The only way to tell would be to enable PSS and debug logging of the
transmissions. It takes a few reg hacks to do so. I can send you
instructions if you want them.

Twice. Provide a valid email address. I removed "nospam" but still no go.
