Intermittent Logitech keyboard problems

M

Mo

Since upgrading to Vista home premium, I have had intermittent problems with
my keyboard not working. A restart seems to fix the problem. Just
wondering if anyone has any ideas what might cause this and if there is
anything I can do about it.

Thank you for any help.

The swami asks:

What type of keyboard, wired or wireless?
What model number of keyboard?
What drivers are you using?
What "intermittent problems"?

Batteries die in your crystal ball again, Cal or were you simply blinded by
your excitement at Cal's having crushed Arizona?:)

I have a tower PC. It is an Internet pro wired keyboard, intermittent in
some times it works then it doesn't - no lights on , when I type nothing
happens. Then when I restart computer everything is fine again.

I have used it on a laptop whilst my computer was at repair shop having
Vista installed and had no problems with it.

All drivers were updated when Vista installed.

After recharging his crystal ball batteries, the Swami says:

"It will be SC (the no. 1 rated team in the country) vs. Cal in the Rose Bowl
next January -- Cal will win."

("And Stanturd will be last in the PAC 10.")

Is this a USB keyboard? Have you tried other USB ports? If it is a PS2
keyboard, perhaps the PC jack is faulty or dirty.

Neither "tower PC" nor "Internet pro" are brands or model numbers. Without
checking the manufacturer's web site, how can you be sure that all drivers were
updated?

And what has that to do with keyboards?
Nothing, he and I are passing a bit of time until you give us more
information.

You said Logitech Keyboard and then posted Internet Pro but that doesn't
seem to come up on the Logitech website. Is there a model number, have you
installed software for the keyboard or is it running off the default Vista
drivers? If you installed software, did you check the Logitech site for the
latest Vista compatible software for your keyboard?

I have looked on the base of the keyboard and that is all it says, I have a
custom built PC, so can't give make and model of PC, it was Vista ready and
I have just installed Vista after receiving from Microsoft.

After installing Vista I had numerous problems, so the computer went to a PC
specialist to reinstall Vista and all hardware & programmes. The company
that did this told me all drivers had been updated and all was working well.

Mo, I think you should bring this issue to the attention of the people who
did this work for you. Because they will have access to your computer, it
will be easier for them to diagnose. Depending upon how long it has been
since they did the work, this might be covered under their warranty.
