Interactive Calendars

Can anyone help me? I have used FP to create my website and now I've been
trying to create an interactive calendar for my website. I want people to be
able to click on a date and see the events for that date. How do I do that
for FrontPage? I am new at this so if anyone can help I would appreciate it.
I'm using FP 2000

Dear Womanofgodsdesign,

There are a number of ways to provide schedule information on your website.
You requested an 'Interactive Calendar' that lists the events for the date
the user selects. This is easily accomplished. For example, you could write
the codes into your html without the use of a program.

Before, you decide the best way to accomplish your goals, understand that
your calendar information is 'data' and there are two kinds of data: static
and dynamic. Ideally, you want to update your data promptly to avoid the
embarassment of inaccurate information on your website. But, if you don't
get around to updating data it makes a difference which type of data you use
for your interactive calendar.

Static data doesn't change until you edit it. Dynamic data uses a database
to display accurate information. So dynamic data can ignore inaccurate
information and only use current data. If current data isn't available, it
can display nothing as opposed to displaying inaccurate info. So, if you
don't edit the database (if the database is not current), you don't have to
worry about inaccurate info. So, back to how do you set-up your interactive
calendar.

If you want to use static data, the set-up is pretty straightforward.
You'll use an FP calendar style web page and type the information next to the
appropriate dates. Depending on the current month, an interactive calendar
can automatically display for the user to click any date and immediately link
to the info text (you typed) for that date. But, keep in mind that although
the calendar will be accurate for the month, your data may not be accurate
for the date if you have not updated it for the current month.

If you want to use dynamic data, there is another FP program to set up this
database program to create an interactive calendar that, not only displays a
current calendar, but automatically links to appropriate date information for
that month (that you entered into the database).

As I stated before, both these types of interactive calendars can be coded
directly into your html without the use of any program. I can do this for
you or give you more info once you decide which type of data you want to work
with because the directions are very different and very detailed for someone
'very new' to this stuff :). However, I'd be happy to help you. Let me
know.
