I'm upgrading, but I've been out of the loop for several years and, oh my, I'm going Inthell.

I'm buying a "bundle" off Amazon ...

Intel Sandybridge i5-2500K Unlocked Core i5 Quad-Core Processor
AsRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 Motherboard, Socket 1155
Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 8GB 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 Vengeance Memory Two Module Kit

Now I see that the i5 has it's own HSF, however, past experience (over 30years ago) leads me to not trust this item with a 10' barge pole. Is that now unfounded, could I really use the "stock" HSF supplied?

So, I was thinking of getting the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 CPU Cooler, or, is there something a little better?

oh, and unless I go to PCWorld, would like any suggestions to be able to purchase off Amazon.

Gaming can be a tad expensive sometimes. :)

yep, I did read them "reviews" and am aware of the issue one could have, however, I also have never trusted Inthell's HSF

I just have no idea what to replace the stock HSF with, or indeed, if I really need to ... AMD's offering have been satisfactory for me in the past.

The stock i5/i7 heatsink is a bit rubbish.

I don't overclock (though I'm considering it) i7 quad stock @ 3.4Ghz.

I use one of these, I think it's superb:

Noctua NH-U12P SE2 Quiet, too.

I think V_R also uses a Noctua cooler, not sure which model though.

Taken as I post:

I also have a similar Noctua cooler with twin push-pull 120mm fans on my AMD machine, I don't use any other make now.

Having said that, I will confess to not being totally up to par with latest cooler models.

PS/EDIT: The SSD temp reported by software prog Speccy is erroneous, it's not that hot.

... thanks chaps, greatly appreciated.

A bit surprised at the initial comment from V-R, and no, I won't be OCing, however, I'll play safe and get the Corsair CAFA50. :)

My dead fast stick to budget of £300 has gone OTT.

Damn CPU is out of stock till Friday the 4th.

What this one?
TBH, if your not overclocking it the stock one will be fine. Not amazing but it will do the job. :)

Its true, they aren't that bad, like i said not amazing but they do the job,. :)

Mind you as soon as you want to add a bit more speed or a little more volts through it then its a different story. ;)
