Intel Raid Matrix

Dear Friends,

I just learned about the Intel Raid Matrix, where 2 physical drives provide
security and speed. This sounds interesting. Do you know anything about
it?

Thanks,

Yes that is interesting, but I don't know very much about it. RAID is an
acronym for Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks. There are numerous RAID
setups, each designed to improve a different aspect of a system -
performance, stability (data reliability), capacity on a single drive
letter, etc. A RAID is not always the correct solution for every PC.

As the question was asked, there is nothing to know that
can't be gleaned from the documentation and web.

I'm starting to think Talal is a certain type of troll that
delights on wasting people's time instead of focusing on
means to an end. There is no need to know everything
possible about RAID or a mere one manufacturer's offerings,
only what is suitable towards the intended goal. Talal
doens't bother to mention that a certain goal is the purpose
though so a vast majority of everyone's time is wasted.

Fair enough, but I don't belive that all postings need to be questions, or
cries for help. Just starting a small debate about certain things and
raising various points is equally valid, although I personally tend to post
questions when in I need help.

Even if Talal doesn't really need to know this stuff, it doesn't do any harm
for us to answer, because there will be many more readers of these posts and
some of them might just find something interesting or useful. My particular
answer (above) is probably not useful as I also picked up on the number of
generic posting from Talal and my sarcastic mind spotted a question that
needed a 'retort'.

Incidentally, everyone's friend Rod seems to have gone away?!?

And I am curious. From the questions and the answers I concluded that Raid
is not for me. I concluded to hold on Vista. I concluded that I should
upgrade my PC, minimally, and get a new PC in 6 months. I concluded that I
should not build my own. I concluded that Battery backup does not help me.
I concluded that Raptor is the way to go, with another drive for data. I
will use the stock fan. I will backup on USB drive. I will use SyncToy.
And... SO many other decisions, thanks to the friendly and courtious and
knowledgeable good people in these Newsgroups. Thanks God for Newsgroups.

Yes, about special situations, new topics, etc. There is
nothing new about the types of posts made like should raid
be used, what is raid, how to surge protect a PC, etc.
These are all topics thoroughly covered in past usenet posts
as well as many website articles.

Sure it does, harm. Do you have an infinite amount of time?
Of course not, nobody does. By taking up time and bandwidth
to cover topics that have already been sufficiently covered,
it robs others from having their posts seen at all, since a
finite amount of time allows only so many posts to be
addressed.

It also robs the poster of the basic question from having a
complete answer because people do not tend to write long
articles for answers to such basic questions, especially not
after they'd been asked several times and the information
was readily available elsewhere.
