Intel Graphics Media Accelerator

While installing components for Vista (premium home 32-bit), I get a message
that not all of the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator components have been
installed. The Vista Upgrade Assistant then says the download failed. I
tried uninstalling the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator, but I am missing the
ialmrem.dll. What do I need to do to install the Intel Graphics Media
Accelerator? Please help.

I assume that you tried to install the Vista version of the Intel Graphics
Accelator for your Intel Graphics chip from the Intel Website is that
correct?
What Intel graphics chip do you have installed on your MOBO?

I tried to install the Vista version of the Intel Graphics Accelerator from
the Toshiba website, which is the brand of my laptop.

The Intel Graphics chip on my computer is the mobile 945 express chipset.

Thanks, but unfortunately this did not solve the problem. The Vista Upgrade
Assistant continues to fail when it comes to downloading all components for
the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator. If I just ignore this message, will
this affect the useability of Windows Vista or is there another step after
the downloading of components? I'm really frustrated and starting to regret
upgrading to Vista.

Hi Muraple:
I installed Vista Home Premium on an Intel m-board with the 965 graphics
chipset and I think that Vista included drivers for it. After installation,
I think I remember Vista update automatically detecting upgrade drivers for
my graphics media accelerator soon after the install. The drivers JW
mentioned just came out recently for your chipset and I wonder if Vista
wouldn't automatically update to them as soon as Microsoft gets the new
drivers? If nothing else works, maybe you could uninstall the current
graphics drivers and then see if Vista update won't automatically download
them for you. You will probably only have very basic graphics until Vista
updates the drivers but undoubtedly the update drivers will install ok.
I think after the update my "graphics experience" went up from 1.0 to 3.0 on
Vista. I have since installed an old X800XL video card so I never did try to
install graphics drivers from Intel.
