installsheid engine????

-i wanted to uninstall a program but unable to do so. a box pops up saying

-The Installsheild engine (ikernel .exe)could not be launched. No such
interface supported.

this happens to some programs not all. is something missing that could have
been
deleted somehow.

does anyone know what is wrong. would appreciate any help.
