I have a Toshiba P10 laptop with WindowsXP Home pre installed. It will not allow a full version of XP Pro to be installed. Anyone with similar experience ?

What do you mean won't allow?
Do you get an error message?
What happens when you try to install XP Pro?

I've seen this before with Toshiba's. If you want XP Pro
on that system, you'll need to boot from the XP Pro CD
and completely format and install a fresh copy of XP
Pro. It's a pain because then you'll have to go to
Toshiba's website and download any drivers that are not
automatically detected and installed by the XP install
process. Hope you've got some time. Make a note of the
drivers installed in XP Home so that you know what's
missing after installing XP Pro.

Toshiba seem to be aware of this problem but do not
support XP Pro on this machine.

Thanks, I can live with the time, but how do I get XP Pro to install. The install process stops at "Setup is starting Windows".

Sorry I didn't return to your post I've been on acation.
Did you delete and recreate the partition? This will completely destroy
anything on your harddrive and guarantee you a clean install.
Hopefully your install won't lock up if you install XP in this manner.
