Installing XP Pro on new built computer

Hi, I just built a new computer and tried to install XP pro after
partitioning and formatting an 80GB.
The problem is that after the cd installs the files and drives on to the
20Gb partition of the drive, it asks me to reboot, only to go back to
installing the files and drivers to the hard drive, it's a repeat cycle that
doesn't get to deploy the actual setup of xp.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

If thats the problem then instead of selecting "install xp" from the xp cd
boot menu,select recovery,in recovery,press enter key for password,then
type:DiskPart In DiskPart,delete a partition,then recreate it,do for
all,then
press Esc key, then type:EXIT Reboot to xp cd,install xp.You'll need to
reformat
the others in xp,however being "raw" xp wont install to them.

I ran into the same problem. When it reboots and you see the "press any key
to boot OS" prompt don't do anthing, just wait. It will continue by itself.

Now a question for you. After you do the above, do you get an error message
talking about a Setup catalog?

Thanks,

Windows XP setup is a two stage process.

The *first* stage boots from the XP CD where you begin the installation.

After the first reboot, the *second* stage continues the installation from
what has already been written to the hard drive. If you had to go into the
bios to make your computer boot from the CD, after the first reboot you will
have to go back into the bios to make your computer boot from the hard
drive. Even though you are booting from the hard drive at this point, you
still have to leave the CD in the tray until the setup has been completed.
Setup still pulls from the CD occasionally, even though you have now booted
from the hard drive.

If you initially entered setup by pressing the space bar to boot from the
CD, after the first reboot - DON'T press the space bar.
