Installing XP on another machine

In efforts to 'save' an older machine I bought,
installed, activated an upgrade version of XP Pro.
Machine is terminal however. Acquiring new machine from
Dell Auction without OS. Since not using copy of XP, can
I install it on the new machine? Ripping apart the old.

Greetings --

You'll need a qualifying, earlier OS license for the new machine
before you can install an upgrade on it.
