OK, I ugraded my windows 98 with windows xp. I can see
most of my old files but I cannot run the programs. I
see my microsoft office programs, but when I ttried to
open them it tells me that the programs have not being
installed. I tried to unistall windows xp, but whn I go
to the control panel, Windows XP does not show, and as a
matter of fact neither does my other programs. How can I
unistall and recover my windows 98?

You probably can't. And you don't want to. Instead, install Office and
your other programs under Windows XP. As to Office, do yourself a favor
and get Office 2003. The Students & Teachers edition is only $90
(Amazon.com, $120 w/$30 rebate) and you are legally allowed to install
it on 3 machines in the same household. Outlook, especially, is vastly
improved over earlier versions. I don't know why your installed
programs were not kept, they should have been if you did an "upgrade"
installation. But XP is a vastly superior OS to 98, although I still
have both 98 and XP on most of my systems (in dual boot mode in separate
partitions).
