The laptop mftr. will have drivers for your SATA drive. Most OEM restore
cd's (or the operating system cd if one came with your system) will
have the SATA drivers slipstreamed into their reinstallation media. If
you don't have the reinstallation media that came with the laptop, here
are a few things to try:
1. Contact the laptop mftr.'s tech support for replacement of their
reinstallation media. This should be your first step.
2. Purchase a usb floppy drive and get the SATA drivers from the laptop
mftr.'s website for their drive controller. Put the drivers on a floppy
and press F6 early in the Windows installation process. You will be
prompted for the drivers.
3. Slipstream the drivers into your XP cd.
