I've made a slipstreamed version of XP w/ SP2, but don't want to burn a
new cd, i want to know if there is anyway that i can do the
installation from my external USB Drive. When i go to the boot menu, my
external drive is listed among the components, but how would i get dos
to start reading the information from the drive?
I've used Nlite to copy the windows cd and then slipstreamed with sp2.
Any advice?

Have you tried just setting the drive as the first boot location?

I know that can be done, but once its done how do i get the pc to see
where the windows installation is?

You don't - it's automatic. If you set the USB drive as the first boot
location, then the machine will boot from that and start the installation
automatically. BTW, there is *no* "dos" in XP.

Burn a CD, a USB drive won't run without Windows USB drivers
already installed.

Or better yet, use a CD-RW media. This way once you are done, you can
"erase" the media and re-use it.

CD-RW would need to be burned in a standard format, else it
won't read.
