Installing Win XP-Pro Over Win XP-Home-(SP2) - Problem or Not?

I would like to upgrade to Win XP-Pro from Win XP-Home-(SP2). I just
installed the (SP2) update a couple of weeks ago from the MS Update site.

I just ran the MS Win XP 'Upgrade Advisor' on the XP site today, and it told
me the following:

if I upgrade to XP-Pro, it will NOT save all my files and settings
from XP-Home
"because Win XP Home-(SP2) is a newer Windows version"
than Win XP-Pro.

Does anyone on here from Microsoft know if this is true, and will I be able
to get a good install - including all files and settings, of Win XP-Pro? Or
since it is "seeing" XP-Home-(SP2) as a "newer" version, will it just trash
my system if I try to install XP-Pro? Or NOT allow it to install period?

TIA

Somebody always asks this, so I'll be the one to do it. Why do you want to
move to XP Pro? What do you think you will be gaining that will make this
additional expense and effort worthwhile? If you insist on installing XP
Pro, I would suggest a clean install, with a format, to ensure that the
operating system is installed with no errors or corrupt files.

Because I'm a Tech/Developer who could use the extra features Pro has. I
would prefer to do a clean install, but I have XP Home set up the way I want
it, and would rather not have to redo all the settings and reinstall all my
apps and everything else if I can get a good install over it with Pro. But
if there will be a problem installing over Home (SP2), I'll do it clean.
