Installing Updates on a PC not connected to the internet

I want to build a Vista-based media center PC to hook up to my stereo & TV.
It won't be connected to the internet. How do I install updates? Can I copy
updates onto a flash drive that's connected to the internet & then install
the updates on the media center PC? I have a feeling that I already know the
answer.

Thank you.

Why do you feel you need updates to a system that's not going be connected
to the internet?

Nope. Each computer is different in the updates that it wants.
You are looking for the performance, not security, updates.
When SP1 is up and running for distribution, grab a CD copy of that.
Some time in the 1st half of this year.
It is out now, but not general release yet.

I have DSL. Will SP1 be available for download?

I have a related question about updates, specifically XP updates. Are they
stored somewhere? I recently reinstalled XP. Do I have the option of backing
up the updates on my hard drive & reinstall them after I reinstall XP?

Some updates are available as stand alone files, like XP SP2.
You can download the ones that are available that way, but many are machine
specific and Windows/Microsoft update is the best source.
