Installing SP4 correctly

Okay, I know that there are a lot of issues concerning the
installation of SP4. Is there any correct way I should go
about installing it? I'm really not in so much of a mood
to reinstall Windows.

What I do is take an image using DriveImage (or Ghost does the same) so if
anything should fail I can simply restore the backup.
