I've just installed a second SATA drive on my computer. It recognizes
it on bootup. It recognizes it in Device Manager (XP). But I can't get
it to come up in 'My Computer' so I can access it and transfer files.
What gives?

Has it been formatted and assigned a drive letter? It won't appear under My
Computer unless both of these conditions are met (well it needs a drive
letter that's for certain - it may then appear and be detailed as 'RAW' or
'unformatted').

Open 'control panel', 'Administrative tools", 'Computer
management','Storage',
'disk management', disk should be there. Rght click on the disk and
partition and format it.

Windows Explorer will only show valid partitions, so minimally the new
drive has to be partitioned. To do that use XP's Disk Management
utility.

Any new drive need to be partitioned and formatted before you can use
it.
