installing powerpoint 2000

I have a new Dell desktop computer with Windows XP and MS
Office Small Business preinstalled. I found I needed
Powerpoint so I tried to install a copy of PowerPoint
2000 (not an upgrade) onto it. I get error #1608. it
can not find a compliant product to install the program.
Can you help? I hope I do not have to purchase
PowerPoint XP.

That error is generated when you try to install an Office upgrade and a
qualifying product is not installed on the system or you don't insert the CD
for the full product. Look carefully at the CD you are trying to install
from. The installer thinks it's an upgrade.
