Installing over OEM version

I was given a computer with the OEM version of XP Home on it. It keeps
telling me that the OS will ** days. I don't have the OEM info, and the the
phone system won't let me register it.
I'm going to purchase the full version, but want to make sure I can load it
over the OEM version without losing all the info I have on the OEM
version...Like e-mail, my documents, ect...

Can I do this?

You'll have to perform a repair install.

You shouldn't lose anything but it is always wise to have a current backup
just in case.
