Installing one copy of Windows XP Home on Two Computers

I recently purchased a copy of Windows XP Home Edition
and I was wondering if I can put the same copy on two
different computers.

If you have it installed once:

Start button -> Run
type in:

winver

Click OK. Then when the Window opens, click on the text "End-User License
Agreement". Read that. It is what you agree to when installing Windows
XP.. and in more general terms, what you agreed to when you installed
Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME and/or Windows 2000.

Essentially, the part you are interetsed in is the following:

* Installation and use. You may install, use, access,
display and run one copy of the Product on a single
computer, such as a workstation, terminal or other device
("Workstation Computer"). The Product may not be used
by more than two (2) processors at any one time on any
single Workstation Computer.

So, the answer to your question is no, not unless you purchase at least
another license for your copy of Windows XP.

No, of course not.

As it has *always* been with *all* Microsoft operating systems,
it's necessary (to be in compliance with both the EULA, if not
technically) to purchase one WinXP license for each computer on which
it is installed. The only way in which WinXP licensing differs from
that of earlier versions of Windows is that Microsoft has finally
added a copy protection and anti-theft mechanism, Product Activation,
to prevent (or at least make more difficult) multiple installations
using a single license.

You can purchase additional licenses for your copy of Windows XP that will

allow you to install it on more than one system.

And you'll probably find it cheaper to buy a new CD at a discount
vendor.......
