Installing on a slave

I am trying to install XP on a slaved HD so that I can
remove it and put it back into another comupter and make
it the primary drive. I am missing something because
when I go through the setup I specify that I want to
partition and chose the drive to install on and then I do
not get that option when it gets to that point. It will
only let me repair or install over my primary drive.

HELP please.

Your doing it the wrong way first of all. You never install xp on a hard
drive in one computer, then remove the drive and put it in another computer.
It most likely won't boot cause of different hardware. At the very least
you'd have to do a repair install of and that would defeat installing it in
the other computer at first. Why are you trying to do it this way? The
correct way to install an os, is to have the drive in the computer its going
to be used in and install it on that drive/computer. Then it will work.
If your xp is oem(pre-installed) it may be bios locked and will not work on
another computer and is not transferable anyway.

Other ways, but take out the current master. Set your second drive as master
and install xp, remove and put original back in. If you put the new hd in
another system it will not work until you do a repair install with your xp
disk.

Do the same procedure but use the system that the second hd is going to live
in.
